I have read in a few posts, as well as been told by 911pcar.com that a complete top assembly replacement using an 02-04 donor will work for my 2000 996 cab. My plastic window has begun delaminating from the canvas. Dealer says they can replace plastic window for ~$700. I found a complete assembly at 911pcar.com for $2500 with trade, or $3500 outright. This includes canvas, glass, liner, all frames, pumps, etc. They say it's just an easy bolt on. I'm hesitant to buy it because I'm still not 100% satisfied that it will work.

Has anyone done this or know someone who has? What about 911pcar.com? Anyone dealt with them?

Thanks,

tx996cab

I have also read that it is a bolt on. One place who may know for sure is the LA Dismantler. They also sell the units, may save you a few bucks. Let us know how you make out.

LA Dismantler (911pcar.com) is who I talked to, but they weren't too helpful:

"Yeah, we've got one, it's a bolt on, do you want it?"

I was hoping to find someone on the board that has done it or seen it.

Sorry, my miss. I am not sure, but did a quick search at the PCA website and found this. Someone else was trying it. Seems doable, but you may need other parts (shims, harness, etc) listed here to make the change.

Another option, ask the dealer and see if you can talk to one of the techs, and if they can tell you what parts are needed for the change. Hope this helps

Way not worth it. This is one of those situations where it would probably be better to sell your 2000 and get a 2002 and apply that money (which is way above more than the $3500 initial investment) toward the 02 purchase.
