Headlights

Recommended Posts

Hi Porsche Enthusiasts,

I have acquired a left hand drive Boxster 2004 last year and as expected, the lights dip to the right. I have to register the car in UK where they drive on the left hand side of the road. Registration rules state that headlights must not dip at all.

MercedesBenz has a great solution by installing a switch within the headlight assembly to either dip or not dip (pretty smart I thought). Do Porsche engineers drink at the same pub ?

I hope someone has had this problem before ... better still, I hope somebody had a solution !

drive safe,

Wombat

hi Loren,

I have talked to Porsche service managers in Norway (where I am currently situated) and they have never heard of this mechanism. I mentioned that MercedezBenz has this mechanism available.

Can you please be more specific so that I can forward this info to the service manager. If true, then I am going to convert to Litronic headlights to take advantage of the mechanical switch.

Thanx in advance,

raphael

For the masking refer them to their Porsche Carrera Workshop Manual - Group 9 - Section 94 15 13 Masking film for left/right-hand traffic.

For the Litronics, that is covered in: Porsche Carrera Workshop Manual - Group 9 - Section 94 15 05 Left / right traffic conversion for Litronic headlights.
