Wing wind baffle looking thing

Recommended Posts

I have a 1999 996 C2 and noticed the other day when washing my car that when the wing is in the up position, my black accordion looking baffle is torn & has two good sized holes in it.

Should I be concerned (i.e less air going down to cool the engine?) or it this purely cosmetic? If it is not cosmetic, how do all these guys with the fixed wings get away with it?????

<_<

Also how much for the part and how easy is it to DIY...

No, no engine cooling at all in either spoiler (that I am aware of).

Here is a pic of the inside of my aerokit spoiler - note the only opening is to the air cleaner tube. The engine purge fan can cool by also bringing in outside - but only when the engine is very hot - and usually after stopping.

On the top side here is what it looks like.

I went on ebay, craigslist and various other forums (renntech/6speed) looking for a good deal on a wing but had no luck. So I ordered the part from Suncoast today and they gave me a good discount $66~

Should arrive in a week or so depending on the weather over there.

Loren do you have any info for removal and replacement so I can make us another DIY article for the fix???
