I was just wondering if there were any instructions on removing the stock shifter and replacing it with the short shift kit?

I was going to get the dealer to install it, but if it's fairly easy I'm sure I can do it myself...

installed the B&M today and is was easy it has to be said, took about 30 mins. but in my case the central console was already out, thats the time consuming bit.

the porsche short shifter is even easier as it already comes installed in a replacement plastic frame rather than having to strip your existing one down to apply the B&M bits and bobs

I have the OEM version so by the looks of it; I think it might be relatively easy.

Is it really difficult to remove the console without damaging?

muranomike, I tried the shifter on another 997 at the dealer before ordering this one... Day and night!

I just received the OEM short shifter for my 997 S today.

I got the shift boot off , and the instructions call for turning the bushing below the shifter 90 deg. clockwise .

OK, I turned it , but the stick / boot does not want to come off .

I don't want to force anything . Is there a trick to this? Tap it from the bottom?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Finally was able to get the factory shift knob off .I tried everything and still dont know how anyone could just pull that bloody thing off.

I finally invented my own "knob removal" tool out of a scrap piece of 1/2 " thick aluminum.

The rest was easy . I simply replaced the standard shifter assembly with the short shift unit and reconnected the cables the same length as before and everything worked flawlessly at first try.

Took the car for a test drive and all I can say is WOW .What a difference . I love it .

Anybody needs an almost new factory shifter ??
