I inquired at my local dealer about installing time for a Porsche Sport exhaust with the cutoff switch.

They told me the time would be 6 hours for the exhaust + 2 hours electircal for the cutoff.

This doesn't sound right to me. I verified that they didn't mean 2 for the exhaust and 6 for the electrical.

Thoughts?

The reason I ask is because I think I can put the mufflers on. If the dealer is only going to charge 2 hours for the electrical, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

Seems too good to be true. If they are willing to commit to that time/price just for the electric and vacuum work, I would go for it.

1 hr for the cans and 6-8 for the electrical so you dealer is quoting acurately (and slightly lower as Loren stated based on TSB TU's). I personally could care less about the electricals (as do most) and just installed the cans. My dealer offered to do it for 1 hr ($100) and that was worth it to me since I was crunched for time. WIfe and I talked about the electronics and after driving it for some time she is glad we didn't waste the money on them.

NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE SOUND OF PSE!!!

Dell (and all self-installed PSE-brothers),

I just received my PSE & had planned to do the entire install in my garage (I do want to have the cutout switch). I quoted myself 20 TU's. ;) If I get crunched for time, how difficult do you think it'd be to install the electronics down the road...just getting the exhaust hooked up initially.

Not sure if it's one of those things where it gets more difficult to do the electronics after the fact...or it'd be about the same level of effort regardless if it was done all at once or down the road.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Best.

No easier or harder after the fact. Do a search for Orient Express (screen name) install of the PSE and electronics. We detailed and a great write-up. YOu could do just the cans right now and then comes back later to do the electronics. YOU can have the cans done in as quick as 30 minutes, but most DIY'ers take roughly 1-2 hours. Personally I gladly paid the dealer $100 to do it since it was worht my time and all the small business I can throw their way goes a long way after my warranty runs out.

Here is how I would do it:

Read this forum for details on the install of the mufflers, but when you shove the muffler up in there, have the silver vaccuum hose already on it and put it through the hole into the engine compartment.

Then later, all you'll have to do is the electronics install...which is actually a pretty big job, but you won't have trouble hooking up that bit of vaccuum hose to the muffler.
