There isn't a routine to create a backup file of the control module data with Piwis.

When you fit a new control module you can read out the data from the old module, change the module, and write it back to the new one.  I don't know where this file is stored, but you may (possibly) be able to use it as a backup if you can find it.

Yes, your current instrument cluster will give you OBC if re-coded.  You will still have the 7-segment OBC display, not the "dot matrix" display of models with factory OBC, but you will get the OBC functions.  They will appear below the existing two lines.

7-segment:

I have successfully coded my Instrument cluster to OBC.

I also have the 7 segment version.

After coding I can't see any changes Do I need the stalk?

I thougt the outside temperature is shown after coding.

I also have coded PCM2/CDR23 to enable because my car has CDR23 with Bose from factory installed.

Does the entry has any impact?

When I enable the OBC I also want to enable cruise control. My instrument cluster doesn't have the Tempostat LED in the speedometer gauge.

Is cruise contol possible without the LED?

If it is possible to change the 7 segment to dot matrix with soldering skills?

With which ordering options Porsche installed the dot matrix?

Only if you ordered OBC and/or PCM2?

Why the 7 segment also is prepared for OBC? Was this option also awailable or never used?

Therefore only for us enthusiast? 😜

The post 2000 cars did not show the outside temp display until either the fourth stalk or some other switching method is installed. Nothing will appear if it is just activated without the stalk.

Installing cruise control and OBC stalks to my 2003 BosxterS Tiptronic with segment cluster.

The OBC works great but with cruise control I have some questions.

In PIWIS I only find a "Tempostat" entry in DME coding section.

In the instrument cluster coding section I only find the OBC entry but no Tempostat entry.

In DME I have changed to cruise control.

When I switched on the ignition and push the cruise control button on the stalk nothing happens.

Must the engine run and must the car driving to set cruise control?

I can see the LED on the PCB of the instrument cluster.

"Tempostat" is Porsche speak for cruise control.

Cruise control will not function on a non moving vehicle, but you should still see the green "cruise active" display on the instrument panel (item #2 below):

I have only used PST2 or PIWIS1 for coding cruise control on a 986.  I recall that early software versions of PIWIS2 caused problems coding cruise, so perhaps the feature was removed.  The option doesn't appear in simulation mode either, so I suspect that might be the case.  Do you know anyone with a PST2, PIWIS1, or Durametric Pro who could try?

Richard do you have a wiring diagram for cruise control for a 2003 Facelift BoxsterS?

I want to double check it.

Thanks
