Dear Loren,

If a 996 has RMS problem, then where exactly will the engine oil be dripping from? Right underneath and in the middle of the engine (in between the exhausts) or a little bit further up in between the rear wheels? Thanks in advance.

Don't you have a Turbo?

If so, it is a different engine that doesn't seem to have that problem.

Carrera's and Boxster's with the RMS leak (or Intermediate Shaft leak) drip oil from where the engine bolts to the transmission. Right in the center where they meet.

I was told that turbo is not immune from RMS. Plus I saw some dark greenish stuff on the floor this morning (at the rear end right underneath the engine in between the exhausts). I am worried that it may be RMS. However, I have the tappets changed a month ago and I don't know whether this is related to the dripping. Any view?

I am no tech so I am not sure what is "pentosin". Is it engine oil or coolant? I also notice that the coolant level has dropped a bit as well (from Max to Min). Could this be dripping or normal consumption? The car has been driven for about 1000 miles after service approx. 5 months ago.

It is power steering fluid. If you have a turbo it is also used for the power assisted clutch. It feels light a light weight oil and has a green tint. Check the reservoir.

If is loosing steering fluid, then will it be hard to steer the car? so far I have no problem with steering.

If You getting low level of oil, You can sometimes hear a screaming sound from the power steering pump, but You will not notice any harder to steer

What is the color of the steering fluid? dark green? I've actually found some dark greenish gooey stuff on the garage floor (at the rear end in beteween the exhaust pipes).

The oil is dark green. It's also very aggressive to rubber material, so be careful then/if you fill more oil. (Special the AC hoses).

You should have a cap (d=7mm) close to the filler cap, check so that one is in the right place and not gone.

It's also very important that you use Pentosin cfh11s oil.

BMW use also pentosin oil if it's difficult to get in your town. I bought a bottle from the BMW dealer in my town and the bottle have also the Porsche number on.
