So,

The inspector for my 3rd party extended warranty comes to my dealer to approve the lifter replacement. And, of course, the CEL doesn't occur while he drives the car for 21 miles. "Never happened, car is fine". The dealer showed the computer printouts. "But, no serial number, those could be from any car!". So, he called the dealer a liar. Unfrigging believeable. I'm astounded. Yes, we're imagining things. The cars really fine! :cursing:

So, I'm leaving the car with the dealer until it happens again and we'll call the bugger back. We'll keep calling him back to he decides we're not lying.

Porsche, if you're reading this. Please sell your extended warranties through your dealers. Why do your own dealers have to sell 3rd party warranties on your cars!

Anyone any experience dealing with these guys.

Porsche won't make money selling warranty. If anything, they probly lose money given how much dealers charge, even at their special rate.

Most 3rd party warranty are worthless. I would only buy them from the one's you've researched on. A random warranty co is usually screwing their customers.

The CEL code can be read from the car. If the code hasn't been erased, dealer can scan it again while the warranty guy is there. That should be sufficient.

So,

The dealer reproduced the symptoms again today, printed it out on an OBD II with the VIN and is making them come back. Everytime they come, it's 150 bucks for the warranty company. We'll keep dragging them back till they acknowledge a real problem and fix it, make it too expensive to keep screwing us around.
