Need some hitch help desprately!

What are my options for a hitch. I does not look like there is much room for a hitch under my Cayenne S... I called my Porsche dealer and they Quoted me $1400.00 for a hitch install :cursing: . Can I just take the truck to a U-haul??

Also does anyone have pictures of hitches installed on a Cayenne S? I need this hitch to tow a very small trailer with my motorcycle on it.

The Porsche hitch is somewhat integrated (from what I can tell) and does not reduce ground clearance at all. It also become part of the chassis diagnostic (a controller is added) so it can have fault codes and report them. There is an 8 page TSB that details its 3 hour installation.

Strength wise it is probably fine for a small trailer- just don't know about the lighting issues. Many of us who tow larger enclosed trailers have had many issues with the running lights either not working or always throwing an error and the ! on the dash, using the factory control unit. Do a search at the Cayenne forum at rennlist.com if you have a couple spare hours! Maybe bypassing the troublesome Cayenne electronics would be better but I'd be afraid of throwing lots of codes and it being non factory your dealer won't be able to help. Only problem is, even with the factory unit, most dealers don't have a clue because so few of us actually use the truck as a truck! Good luck.

I have the Curt hitch on my S. It saves a small amount of money because you have to get the dealer to wire in the control module and set it up, fitting is not to hard.

not much trimming its pretty simple using some masking tape and a steady hand with a jigsaw.

Hi Bob! Was that a class 3 Curt hitch? And do you still have the part # for the Hoppy kit? JC Whitney has several Hopkins kits. Do you have specific part #'s please.

Hi Tim,

I'll see if I can find the Hoppy part number for you, and yes the Curt is a class III hitch but it has a slightly lower weight capacity than the OEM hitch...

The Hoppy part number I installed was HY-46255/6
