Switching from 17" to 18"

I am currently running 17 inch wheels on my 2001 Boxster. Are there any issues I should be worried about if I put 18" wheels on the car? What is the proper offset? I thought I read somewhere that Porsche dosen't recommend running an 18" wheel.

18's are okay. Offset will depend on what width you get. 8's and 10's need about 50 and 40 offsets.

On the original Boxster from '97 to (I think '99 or maybe it was '98) there was an issue with the additional stress placed on the front suspension by 18" wheels and Porsche strongly recommended again them. From at least 2000, 18's were available as factory options. so there is no problem running them on an '01.

Factory 18's on non-550 Anniversary cars are:

7.5Jx18 ET50 front, 9Jx18 ET52 rear

The 550 Anniversary Edition Boxster has special wheels (and factory spacers to make them fit):

8Jx18 ET 50 front, 10Jx18 ET47 rear

I'm running 10" rears with an ET50 offset and I need a 2mm spacer to stop a minor rub on the parking brake cable.

I'm trying to determine if wheels with an offset of +52mm in the front and +63mm in the rear with a 10mm spacer, will fit corectly on the car. I don't want them to stick outside of the fenders.

I should mention the fronts are 18x8.5" and the rears are 18x10"

What size tires are you running with the 10" in in the rear??? I've been thinking of fitting 285's on the back of my boxster, and noonne has been able to give me any input on fitment issues...Does anyone know if I'll need spacers with a 52 offset wheel? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to run about 40mm in the rear. Here is a pic of a 265 on a 10" wheel et 40.

I have a mid 98 boxster and have the sticker in the front boot that specifies pressures for 18" so I guess 18" are ok for my car?
