<_< I've just purchased a set of PS2 about 6 months ago. These tires are pretty good and comfortable and handle pretty good. I do think that the the Continental Sport Conti 2 are just as good or better and cheaper. I may get the Conti next time.

However, the question is have is that, the PS2 in the front seem to develop some feather wear on the outside. I just had the allignment done about one month ago and did not notice the wear happened before or after the allignment.

I used to have 3 pair of Michellin on my wife's Mercedes and they had the same problem with feather wear and have had to change to Bridgestone.

Is this wear normal on the Boxster 2000 or something is wrong or is it because of the Michellin's?

Thanks,

I'm a little confused. Tires don't feather by themselves and in my experience, one tpye of tire is no more or less inclined to exibit this wear pattern. You state you fixed a feathering problem by switching tire manufacturers. I'm afraid that doesn't make sense to me. If, when you changed to the Bridgestones, you also had the car aligned properly, then what fixed the problem was the alignment, not the new tires.

Feathering is caused by excessive wear on the outside of the tire. Typically, the culprit is either extremely aggressive driving (like at a racetrack), or an improper alignment - too much toe-in. Since you just had an alignment, what specs is your car set to right now?

First allignment was done by the dealer. The tires that I had before was Kuhmo's and they were wearing out evenly after a while with some abnormal wear too. However, when I switched to PS2, then the feather wear showed up. I brought it to FireStone for the allignments and the Technician said that the allignments were good for the front except the back left. However, the feather wear was on the fronts.

How much PSI is correct for the PS2? I have 35 in the fronts and 39 in the back for the 18''. Thanks

If these pressures are set cold, then they are a little high. I'd reccomend 32f, 36r.

Unfortunately, the pressures you are running at are not the cause of your problem.

This may not be of any use since this thread is a bit old, but my 2005 Boxster came with the Michilin sp2. The car was used, but only had 1700 miles. When I looked at the tires, the outside tread looked like it was gone, while the inside and center treads were nice and deep.

For a second, I thought there was a tire wear issue. But I checked all 4 of my tires and they are all like this. I don't think it's a problem, but actually part of the tire design with varying tread depths across the tire.
