Hello All!

I took my tiptronic shifter off today to replace the rear center console (which in itself wa a job) on my 1999 996 c2 tip.

put everything back and now, i cannot get the button for the shifter know to sit back properly. I can get it to "sit" on the hinge but the minute i depress the button to shift the button pops off of the hinge.

HELP!?!?!?!?!

anyone have any idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

anybody have a 996 tiptronic shifter they want to sell in the event I cant fix it?

any ideas or thoughts woulf be appreciated!

thanks

-Dipak

Check if you properly installed the small spring & metal clip on the plastic/leather shifter handle.

Just remove the clip inside of the ball itself(not the one that goes to the handle). Porsche added the clip to later year model to prevent the ball from poping out, but it makes it harder to install and it's ok without it.
