I'd like to get 18" wheels on a new MY06 Boxster S. I really like the look of the 18" Carrera III wheels that come standard on a Carrera Coupe. Unfortunately, they're not offered as an option for the 987S -- at least not according to the porscheusa.com site.

Does anyone know if a dealer would let you order a Boxster S with the 18" Carrera III wheels? (Is there any mechanical reason why these wheels are not offered as an option for the 987S?)

Interesting side note: The MSRP markup from the standard 18" Boxster S wheels to the optional 19" Carrera Classic wheels is the same as the markup on a Carrera Coupe if you choose the 19" Carrera Classics over the standard 18" Carrera III wheels.

I just took delivery of my '06 Boxster S and would love to find the answer to your question. I ordered the 19" Carrera S wheels because I like the look but I am shopping for a set of 18" wheels for the track/autocross.

Those wheels are wider than the standard 18" size for a 987 and I am sure have a different offset. That doesn't necessarily mean they couldn't be fitted to the 987 but you probably would need spacers. I don't think you'll be able to order them from the factory.

I think I will need to search for some standard 987 fit to meet the stock classification for autocross. I'd really like to find some Cayman 18" wheels but that might be difficult to find.
