Hello,

Got a CEL on, and had it scanned by opc as I was there anyway. It was not a comprehensive diagnosis, as it was done in the car park free of charge. They said it was the cam solenoid on bank 2, with symptoms of repeated misfiring on cylinders 4/5/6, smell of unburnt fuel, car on brink of stalling, and intermittent knocking from back left (bank 2 makes sense). The car struggles to idle, but runs perfectly above 1200/1300 ish rpm. I suppose this suggests the solenoid is not engaging. Im keen to hear other people's experiences of removing cam cover and replacing the solenoid. Also is there any other maintenance I should do while I am in there. Also I know I will need to lock the cams, but is it good practise to re-time? For replacing the solenoid, there is not the usual plethora of information that comes up when searching about other jobs on this car, so looking for advice of any aspect really. I will put 9v to the solenoids and test them- is there any harm in putting 12v from the cars battery? Thanks
