I'm nearing the point of needing to replace the battery in my Panamera GTS.
Various threads I've read fall into one of two camps:

---Optima Yellow Top and Bosch are the best, and Varta is OEM ... can't go wrong choosing one of these

---An AGM battery, is an AGM battery and don't waste your money on a label

What's your experience / recommendation?

Thanks

Rob

We used to be big fans of the Optima brand, but no more since Johnson Controls sold them to a private investment group that destroyed the product.  An interesting example is one size Optima red top lost over seven pound of weight post JC's sale of the brand, that weight lost can only come from one place: lead.

Definitely consider AGM style batteries, they have significant advantages over flooded cell batteries. Our current favorite is the Odessey line, top quality, great support services, US made.

Thanks JFP.

I hadn't seen Odyssey before, and have started doing some googling ...
Any strong opinion on the Interstate brand available at Costco?
I see they have a "superior AGAM", 'cause nobody wants an "inferior AGM"
Their battery is 900CCA and 95ah ... H8.
While I do a lot of Costco purchasing, I've never done automotive there ... bakery on the other hand.
