2005 Boxster air conditioner outlets center of dash how to remove

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 2005 Boxster and I need to pull out the two center air conditioning ducts because two of the fins are backwards and I also need to know how they come out if anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

First, grab a vacuum and start sucking out the loose foam from the vents. This debris is coming from foam that is failing on the HVAC blend doors. Prepare to be hit in the face with small debris for a loooong time if you don't take action to remedy these foam-covered blend doors in the HVAC system. There are a few approaches to help remedy this outside of removing the entire dashboard. Check YouTube / Google search this topic. It is very common.

Second, the vents can be removed by inserting two, long sharp prongs into the lower portion of the vent to raise two tabs that contain the retention tabs. It will take two hands and a pulling action to remove but once you have done it once, you will be able to more easily do it to the others. The little slats can be fixed in place if the retention hooks behind it have not been damaged. I have found many doors in your condition because people were "fishing" out the foam pieces and dislodged the slat(s). You can use a hook tool to pull the retention piece back towards the slat to re-engage it so that it moves with the rest of the slats. Grab a flashlight and see if you can understand what I am talking about.
