2003 986 Boxter Battery - Alarm - Frunk

Recommended Posts

Have a US 2003 986 Boxter with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Any insights or ideas to my issues will be greatly appreciated.

Symptoms: Battery is dead. Any power applied sets off the alarm non-stop. Cannot open Frunk,

Attempts: Have applied power to the frunk override post in the fuse box. With a car charger, nothing happens at 2 and 5 amps. When setting charger to boost (50 amps), the alarm goes off, but no lights on the dashboard. Turning the key to the on position and waiting does nothing, frunk and trunk buttons do nothing. Connected battery from my truck instead using jumper cables with the same result as the 50 amps with the charger. Locking and unlocking the car does nothing.

Was able to remove the wipers and the housing below them. This at least gave me the ability to apply power to the battery post. At 2, 5, and 50 amps, the dashboard lights up and the alarm goes off constantly. No resetting of the alarm seems to work. Ignition key to on, shutting and locking and unlocking the door, etc. Frunk and trunk buttons do nothing. Connected battery from my truck instead using jumper cables with the same result as the 50 amps with the charger. Cannot get the alarm to stop and cannot get the Frunk to open.

Looked for emergency frunk manual cable behind the passenger headlight. It is not there. Also looked for a manual cable underneath the fuse box. Removed all surrounding molding. Also tried the key, but since I purchased the car used, it only came with one, and there is nothing inside the key. Pushing the frunk button pushes nothing underneath.

Applied power to the 40 AMP C8 fuse. This lit up the car just like connecting to the battery. Same results as being connected to the battery.

Am at a loss on two things. 1. How to open the frunk in this situation to at least replace the battery and disconnect the horn. 2. How to disable the alarm. Starting to think that the car is an entire loss.

Thanks so much for your time.
