3rd brake light not working

Recommended Posts

Question, do you have any idea where the grounding point is for the "3rd brake light" 2003 Carrera 996?  My "3rd brake light" is not working at all, no voltage when brake pedal is depressed, except when I take my multimeter straight to a bolt on the frame for a good ground, then I show voltage. All the other brake lights and lights are working fine. Before I spend too much time chasing wires to find the ground, I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction

Follow the wires from the light and fan down the deck lid to the right side of the engine compartment. You will find a connector there (X23) - disconnect it and make sure the pins are good and clean.

Hi Loren, Thanks for your input.20240727_170704.heic20240727_170704.heic I did find what I believe to be the X23 connector and all pins are in perfect condition with zero corrosion( see pic). I also plugged the 3rd stop light into the stop light on the spoiler and verified the actual light is working. I guess the next step is to ring the wires out from X23 to the connector for the light to see if I have continuity.
