Hello all

I have a 2008 Cayenne base w about 125K miles. I had the symptoms of a failed HPFP and a failed PCV valve. With the help of my manuals and mostly a few good youtube videos I have removed the intake manifold and the valve cover to replace the PCV membrane. With the engine laid bare it is obvious the intake valves are carboned up and require cleaning. I have done this with a combo walnut blasting carb cleaner and picking. All clean now.

I have a fuel injector removal/rebuild kit and I have removed and cleaned and resealed and reinstalled the lower rail fuel injectors. Lots of videos on that.

Now working on the upper rail attempting to remove the fuel injector I had no idea the upper fuel rail fuel injectors have an extension that connects to the fuel injector by a metal 'tab' or 'latch'. The 'latch' has broke free or separated and I have pulled the extension leaving the fuel injector stuck in the cylinder. I am hoping to receive advise on the best way to remove this injector. There is one video of a person that used this "tab' to make a fitting to extract injector and I have tried that with no success. I am wondering about drilling it out as a last resort.

Of all the youtube videos of VR6 fuel injectors none have illustrated removal of the top rail injectors. I wonder if this is common. Seems a very poor design and an easy point of failure. I surely do not want to remove head to get at it. hope I get some suggestions. Many thanks.

Rick

If memory serves, there is an extraction tool for exactly this purpose, but I do not have a link for it.  Maybe listed as a VW tool.

Thankyou ‘JFP in PA’.

I found a tool that I took a chance on and it worked! It is ‘OTC 6999’.

i have a attached a pic to illustrate.
