My first post,

Sorry to tread over old ground but im new to this and know about as much about engines as i do about Brain Surgery, so im learning fast!

Ive been reading alot about the RMS and it seems i have the same problem on my 2000 Boxster. I had it up on the lift today and saw it firsthand. I have been told this costs $$$ to replace as they have to separate the engine etc, to get at it. It seems like its an inherent porsche problem and the posts i have read have been most informative. But I have a couple of questions.

1. Does it need to be done?? its not leaking a lot, it doesn't leave spots on my garage floor, (well i haven't noticed any) Should i just get on with it?

2. If so how much should i expect to pay?

3. I've just moved to Miami from Boston and im going to get rid of my snow tires, what should i go for???

Many Thanks

Andy

1. You can wait on RMS until the clutch goes bad or when you start leaking more

2. $800-1200 depending if you get a specialist or a dealer to do this

3. get N spec tires. consult tirerack. Pilot SPort and SO2 are amongst the favorite of N spec. SO2 may be slightly better in rain.
