Hi there, as we all know, the 993 has a European Type B lighter socket that is slightly larger than the current U.S. type A standard.  As a result, none of the various phone/charger/USB accessory plugs fit.  I've researched online quite a bit and haven't found any solutions, ergo this post.

Would love to get some help with any of these possible solutions:

1.  Replacement.  Anyone had any luck hard-swapping out the OEM plug for a new Type A?  I've seen this done with other Porsche models but not the 993.  If so, would love a link to the part as well as any description of 993-specific installation.

2.  Adapter.  If you've got an adapter that works, would love a link to where I can buy one.  Prior posts here and elsewhere recommend adapter plugs that are no longer available ...

3.  Sleeve.  I've seen attempts to scan sleeves to CAD so they can be printable.  If you've done this or know where it can be found, I'd be grateful for a link.

Advance thanks!

Seth

I’ve never seen an adaptor that actually worked, but Porsche released a replacement socket for the 986/996 cars which solved the problem perfectly, and that might be an alternative.  Any good Porsche Parts Department should be able to help you

Yes, thanks, I saw that came up in another post, with a link to the part at Suncoast Porsche.  I emailed them, and they said that the 986/996 socket won't work in 993.
