My fingers are crossed for some help on what I think is a very strange issue. I have 2 986 S (1 x 2000 and 1 x 2002) at my driving disposal and I was swapping headlights between them both thinking they are the same lights (non-litronic). I put all new bulbs in each of the lights.

Specific to the driver’s side both headlights work (hi, low, fog, signal) in the 2000 but when it comes to the 2002 1 headlight’s low/running lights do not work. The hi and fog does work. Specific to the passenger side all headlights work across both cars.

I believe this rules out the switch, but that is hypothesis vs fact due to the exercise above. Any thoughts on what to do next OTHER than the obvious of putting the lights back to their original cars?

The idea was to put the 2002 headlights on the 2000 - this works absolutely fine. The issue is that the 2002 does not seem to love the 2000 driver’s side headlight specific to the low beam.

Thank you in advance for any ideas to pursue.

The lights should be interchangeable without issue (both years list the same factory part numbers); you have a loose connection somewhere or a bulb is not seated.
