Gents, need some creative thinking.  My hood release cable stopped working, when you pull the lever, it does not feel like it is connected to the latch.  Took the inner wheel lining out to look for the magic backup emergency release cable and it was not there 😞  No I am stuck and am looking for some creative solutions/ideas on how to get my hood open.  I would thinking I might remove my right headlamp assembly and look to see if the cable emergency cable can be reached from there.  Anyone have success with getting headlamps out but no access to the release lever in the trunk?  Any other creative ideas on how I can get the hood latch released?  Thanks in advance

Loren, thanks for the quick response.  Just want to make sure we are talking the same language.  My main or primary hood release cable is definitely on the left side (driver) and I believe it is broken or disconnected.  I was trying to get to the emergency release cable that in the US is hidden in the right side (passenger) wheel well that I can't seem to find.  Hope this makes sense?

Sometimes it is further up behind the front bumper.

Also something the may help is to have a 2nd person push gently on the front hood log area while you activate the release.

If that does not work then you might have to remove the front bumper cover - which means replacing some parts and if not done correctly the front bumper can be damaged.

So - good luck on that.

You're talking about the front trunk correct? Passenger side should be correct (left hand drive), you might be able to work your way through the rubber that directs air to the radiators. It's really not easy to get to, maybe if you remove the front underbody cover you could find it. You probably could find it with the headlight out but that will be fun since the headlight release is in the trunk, same with the bumper cover, trunk needs to be open to remove it...

If you can get to this bar from the back you might be able to pop the headlight out by pulling it back to release the headlight, or may have to push it forward, not sure you turn it with the tool, which moves the bar forward or backward depending on which way you turn the tool.

For future reference, once you get the frunk open (however you do it), do yourself a favor and relocate the emergency release cable to just inside the tow hook plug on the front bumper. This can save hours and hours of frustration...pop the tow hook plug and there is the cable.
