This has probably been gone over many times before, but when the battery dies on my 2004 Cayenne Turbo within a day the front suspension drops, but the back stays up. When there's power in the battery there's no issue however, there is an amber warning light on the dash.

When I originally bought it, it did have the warning light and I was aware of an issue but it still went up and down. However, after a month, I then had a message when trying to adjust the height which said something was initialising, but it never fully initialised.

I'm currently trying to logically work out what may be the issue, whether the valves/sealant rings on the airbags have gone or whether it's something on the compressor.

That being said, the person who had it prior to me had it straight piped but they used the wrong diameter pipe, just about level with where the compressor is situated. Could this procedure have caused a problem with the compressor or surrounding components?

Yes. If you are getting a dash light then the car needs to be checked for suspension faults using a Porsche specific diagnostic tool like PIWIS or Durametric.
