ABS , PSM problem

I am new to this Forum. I just bought a 2001 911 996 Porsche. My ABS, PSM light comes only on when I drive over 4500 rpms. It is not going off until i turn the car off, when i start the car again all the lights are off until I reach 4500 rpms again. There is also a power problem in that rpm range. Any help fixing this problem will be very much appreciated.

Oddly sometimes an intermittent brake light switch (on the pedal) can cause this.

Other things to look at are the speed sensors on each wheel.

Thanks, speed sensors are all working fine and the brake light switch i replaced already, still the same issue. No fault codes either.

I also have a 2001 996 and had the same PSM/ABS issue. I found that 90% of the time it is a signal that you need to replace your MAF sensor. I didn’t want to spend ~$200 on a MAF and it not be the solution so I ordered an aftermarket MAF sensor on Amazon for around $50-$75 and installed it in 20 minutes. It solved everything immediately. I highly suggest you give it a shot. And the site I ordered from allowed free returns so if you immediately don’t feel the effects, you’re not out any money because you can just return the part.

Thanks ‚ for the money i will try it but I don’t have a maf code. I have a 5525 code.

Fault 5525 Torque transmission from the DME disturbed at times

Effect:

- The PSM function is switched off
- The ABS function is switched off
- The ASR function is switched off

Note!
The fault is sent from the DME control module to the PSM control module via the CAN bus. The PSM system is not faulty!

Possible cause of fault:
- Fault in DME

Thanks to everyone, the MAF sensor fixed the whole problem. Bought one from Amazon for $62 made in China works fine so far. I will buy a Bosch if this one stops working.
