Hi. This has been a great site and thanks for all the info. Long story short, 45 days waiting for dealer to "repair" my failed 97 convertible top for $2500 +/-. thru here and Pete's Boxster board I find I may not need to do the total replacement the dealer is recommending. However I can't find anyone who can locate the cables for the top so that I can replace them?

Amazing that the dealer is waiting on parts from Germany 45 days during the summer here in Michigan. I haven't been able to use my top and really question the Porsche parts distribution system.

Does anyone know where I can find the cables to fix my 97 convertable top? Thanks in advance.

There are 180 cables at the Porsche parts warehouse in Ontario, California. I did not ask about Atlanta. Either place is where your dealer gets parts.

The latest part number is 986 561 717 03. This is the version cable used with the new style transmissions that is 1" longer than your original cables, and it has the same part number for left or right. It will work fine if you want to use your old style transmissions.

No clue what is up with your dealer.

There is no name. It is a parts warehouse. One of the 2 places the USA Porsche dealers gets their parts from. You cannot buy parts from the warehouse because you are not a dealer.
