Trying to help a friend...he has a 2004 boxster with M525 alarm  ( not usual M535 alarm in most US models)

Where is the alarm horn located?  It is not in the front trunk by the battery.  Car keeps popping alarm fuses

Porsche alarms were option on Boxster. M535 is the correct control unit.

The alarm horn should be down to the right of the battery and is just the horn. Sometimes it is hard to see.

I agree but this one has different alarm module and no alarm near the battery

The M525 should be using part #996-618-262-03 control unit, which Porsche calls an "anti-drive off" rather than the more common M535 "immobilizer" system.  It should have a separate alarm horn mounted on a bracket near the battery ground cable:

Try looking on the other side (passenger's side) of the battery, that is where they normally live........................

Look around for the connector that should be attached to it, that dangling in the open where it could short may just be the source of your short.
