My Air Bag light stays on (2000/ 996)

Had a shop replace the ignition switch and reset fault code,  but shortly thereafter the light continued to stay lit.

Appreciate anyone’s assistance.

My memory is that the airbag light can come on if seatbelt buckle connection is loose or faulty. Try opening and closing seat belt a few times.  Good luck.  Get fault code to Loren.  Cheers,

Thank you both…I should clarify I don’t have the code.  The airbag light was cleared a couple times but returns after very short while 10-15 minutes.

This has been going on for years and 2 ignition switches.  I’ve adapted to live with it but it does bother me that 2 Porsche shops tried to eliminate and were unsuccessful.

Dealership said would swap switch to cancel fault light at a lofty $2k.

Will verify buckle connection to floor. Appreciate your assistance!!

I had a similar issue when I replaced the seat belt buckles the airbag light will stay on even if you cleared the codes with any diagnostic tool "Autel, Durametric...etc". However, I had to recode/reprogram the airbag unit with Porsche Tester and it solved my issue.
