My 2001 Boxster alarm Boxster alarm has gone off 3 times in the past week. The car is in the garage. Oddly, two nights in a row it went off at exactly 9:30. The other time it was around 11:30. I've had it for 5 years and it has never done it before. It has never gotten wet, always been garaged.

It does have a voltage drain that I've been unable to diagnose, and i spent a couple hundred bucks to have the shop tell me it was because i wasn't making the key click when i shut it off.  After diligently making sure the ignition clicked when I turned off the car and removed the key, which did NOT fix the battery drain, I bought a battery tender and just plug it in when the car is parked.  I don't know if it makes a difference, but recently, the ignition quit clicking when I shut off the car and remove the key, no matter how much i wiggle it. Also, i always lock the doors, thinking it may have had something to do with the battery drain. Will leaving the car unlocked in the garage deactivate the alarm? I also saw something in another thread about locking the steering wheel, does that affect the alarm?

I'm really ignorant when it comes to this car, which I'm sure shames my late father who was a certified Mercedes diesel mechanic. I would appreciate any wisdom anyone can share.

If you get two beeps when locking then you have multiple zones faulting . If you get one beep when locking then you have one zone open/faulting.

You need a Porsche specific scanner (like Durametric) to see what zone or zones are triggering or if you have a bad control module.

Thank for your reply. I truly appreciate it.

I'm recovering from surgery and unable to drive for another couple weeks.  However, i just went out to the garage and started the Boxster let run for a minute, shut it down, and locked the doors when i got out. The alarm didn't chirp at all. I know it normally does, but i can't recall if it is a single or double tone. I did see the red alarm light flashing from the front of the car. FWIW, i left it unlocked in the garage and the alarm didn't go off last night, but, then again, it has only gone off a couple times.

FWIW, I solved this problem by leaving it unlocked in the garage, at least until I get someone with a scanner to troubleshoot it I'll have to save my pennies and take to our local dealer.
