There is just a sealing washer around it and the electrical connection.

When you pull the old one out washer fluid will leak out so push the new one in right away. Then transfer the electrical connector. Done.

As soon as the switch arrived, the warning light went out. Some posts suggest the switch can act erratically.

keeping an eye on the situation.

Still haven’t installed the sensor. Ran a test: I filled the reservoir to the top and used the windshield washers until the warning light came back on. Then refilled with a measured volume. The reservoir took 66 oz to refill; the warning light went back out.

My next test is to not use the washers for awhile, say a week or a month. Then check the level again and determine whether the reservoir leaks when driving.

Otherwise, now I’m going to tackle cleaning the top

The washers were not used for approx 1 month. Today, I filled the washer tank again to Full. It took about 28 oz.

I am assuming the tank got filled at the start of my experiment.
There is no signs of water on my gsrxge floor.

I think I’ll siphon out the water into quart bottles and see when thy he alert comes on

Update: I tried to rig up a siphon to start the draining in order to detect when the warning comes on. Well, the washer reservoir will not allow a tube to be inserted.

So, I'll resume using the washers and when the light comes on; I'll measure the amount needed to fill.

Question: What is the capacity of the washer reservoir ? ; My car is an '06 987
