It is very similar to the 996 glove box. Remove the screws on the inside of the lid to get access to the two screws that hold the latch/lock mechanism. Remember this is a keyed lock that matches your ignition key.

Do you have a diagram for this? Are the screws hidden underneath the felt padding?

Here is the diagram for the 996 lid. The 997 has the lock in the center instead of the left edge. Still 11 screws to release the outer cover so you can get at the two screws that hold the latch.

One more question, there are seems to be a felt cover on top of each screw. Can I use a flat head screwdriver to remove the covers?

I guess so... thew parts list does not show the felt covers.

Hi Loren,

Would you know what size torx screwdirver I will need? Upon closer look, the screws are actually cover by felt.

No, I don't but almost everything is T15, T20 or T30. I think T30 is way too big so they are likely T15 or T20. I think Sears sells a nice small set of Torx with screwdriver handles.
