Hello,

As a new owner of a 03' C4 Cab from a 00' Boxster S, I have a few more gauge's to worry about. One is the oil pressure that seems to be running a little high. The manual says it should be between 3-4 bar at 5K rpm. I am still breaking in (only about 600 miles so far) and do not run that high yet, but it seems I am normally seeing 4-5 bar at about 3.5Krpm. In the morning, when things are cold, it seems to peak out at 5 bar for first 10 minutes or so - maybe normal?

Question, what do others seem to see as "normal" running oil pressure? Also, does my experience so far seem appropriate/acceptable or perhaps reason for concern?

thanks,

Mark J. in Boston

As the oil is thicker (cold) you will see higher oil pressures. As the oil warms it should come into normal range. A little high is usually not bad -- low is bad. Your experience looks normal to me.

The same thing made me really nervous. I topped off my oil and only then did i notice the oil pressure always going really high (to 5) anytime i stepped on the gas. I checked with the dealer and they said it was normal and i double checked on my friends 02' C4S. Same thing happens in his. I was getting really nervous until i noticed i wasn't the only one. So i guess it's a normal occurance despite what the manual says.

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with being paranoid! It keeps you alert!
