Looking for an 85" to 88" 911 Carrera

I just began my search for an 85" to 88" 911 Carrera. I am new to 911's. but always liked them, and drove a few that some of my friends had.

Few things i am looking for:

1.) I am looking for advice on what to look out for when purchasing a 911 from these years

2.) What a fair price would be for a coupe with under 80K miles.

3.) Do the 911's in these model years have distinctive mechanical problems that have been widely reported or specific things i should know about these model years?

4.) Any good sources of where i might be able to find them besides ebay and autotrader?

Fast Forward - I bought mine private via Autotrader but took the precaution of checking it out at the local Porsche Specialist where it had been serviced.
