Hi,

I am experiencing a weird fault on my 1999 C2. A couple of weeks ago my central locking stoped working. I have read a lot of forums where the microswitch is the problem. I am just curious because I have other problems than what I have read on other forums.
I have two keys. One have not worked since I bought the car and the light on the key does not lit up when I press the button. The other key has been working though until approximately three weeks ago. The problem started two months ago when sometimes I needed to press the button like 5-10 times before the car unlocked. Sometimes I needed to first unlock the car with the key manually and then lock it, then I could use the central locking again. Really weird. I also thought the whole central locking mechanism was becoming rather sluggish in the end before it stoped working completely. I have changed battery in the key. Did not fix it. Also, the windows works and goes down a bit every time I open them.
What are your thoughts, they are greatly appreciated!

Welcome to RennTech :welcomeani:

There is a central locking/immobilizer controller mounted under the driver's seat and is prone to issues.  I would start by pulling the unit, opening it up and looking for signs of corrosion or burnt components.  These units can often be cleaned and repaired, which is good because replacing it is expensive and time consuming.  Good luck.....

Be aware that the remonte controled central locking system only works during approx. 5 days, car parked and nog used. After that time, the door must be opende manualy with the key to het the remonte control working again.
