Hey all. I am a recent 986 buyer. I had a PPI done on the car, recently passed emissions, and it has been a strong driver so far. The last two times I drove it (this week) I noticed some sounds in the exhaust (or a think so) as well as sone ticking when idling. I am not sure what to make of it at this point. I was originally thinking the CATs or and exhaust leak. Drives strong, idles perfect, no CEL, no fault codes, no leaks. 0W40 Castrol Edge Oil (recently added 1qt). IMS replaced with an LN Engineering in 2018 approximately 10,000 miles ago.

Here are some videos in OneDrive.

Thanks for your assist.

Most common ticking sounds are the hydraulic valve lifters.

Sometimes and oil change to a lighter oil followed by an oil change back to 0W-40 will help clean the dirt and debris out.

I mean the sound is probably come from injectors, not something irregular that you have to worry about. And yes, you will get a CEL before you notice your injector so working. 😅
