Hey Guys -

I've got an 06 Cayenne which is having an odd issue.  When I first start the car and drive, the transmission is really slow to shift into almost all, but definitely the lower gears.  Once the engine warms up, the issue is virtually gone.  Tried searching a bit and saw a couple with similar issue being told the issue was more than likely solenoids in the valve body sticking, but nothing definitive.  Saw other posts where this was known behavior and the nature of the beast.  I barely drive anymore so not a huge issue, but wanted to make sure it isn't something that may get worse.

Any thoughts or suggestions?  Thanks!

When was the trans last serviced (fluid and filter)?

Thanks for the reply...

Unknown unfortunately.  Handed down from my father after he recently passed.  If it makes a difference, I meant to type that it is an 08 Cayenne S.

Time permitting, I'm a weekend mechanic; but after looking at this video it seems replacing the fluid / filter make take a while plus need a fluid pump which I don't have.  Video claims clogged filter can lead to shifting issues so could issue simply be resolved by swapping fluid / filter?  Also, if I do decide to do myself; would a new gasket be required for the pan or is that a case by case thing?

Edit:  Seems it isn't much for kit containing filter & gasket so never mind on that part 🙂

Thanks!

Just for your information, I would NEVER use anything from Beck Arnley as they are well known for poor fitment issues.  Others make these kits as well.

Along with the filter kit and fluid, you are going to need a fluid pump designed for a Tip, and a non-contact pyrometer to fill and properly adjust the new fluid level.
