Help Identifying Unknown Sensor/Connector on 2002 Boxster S

Does anyone know what this small pointy sensor/connector is that is mounted to the underside of the decorative front grill.  Not sure if it is an OEM or aftermarket device. It is located on the front right side and the pointy little center piece slides backward out of the holder. The whole thing is connected by wires to something inside the car. I have not found any info in owners manual.  Thanks to anyone for info.

Welcome to RennTech :welcomeani:

That is the factory outside air temperature sensor, which provides ambient temperature data to the DME to help the system adjust engine settings to temperature changes.
