Humming/buzzing Sound

Hey everyone!

 

I had to jump off my Cayenne this afternoon (not sure that the jumping off is related) and after doing so there was a moderately loud buzzing/humming sound that is able to be heard in the cabin. It seems to be on the passenger side, either in the dash or engine, and you can hear from the outside too.

• Wondering if it could be fuel pump related, I pulled up the rear passenger seat and found nothing. 
• Tried turning off the heater and it was still there. It was consistent while driving.
• Even after stopping and turning off the Cayenne, and removing the key it was still there and was for a couple minutes before I decided to go inside.

 

Also, and again not sure this is related either, but there was a burning type smell coming from the vents with the heater on...like a very similar smell like iwhen you get something caught in the vacuum. This smell went away when I turned off the heater. The noise, however, continued.

 

Any ideas what could be?!

 

I have attached a video of the sound. When the light comes on, the car is off and the key had been removed.

Small rodent trapped in the HVAC? If PASM equipped air compressor on the way out?

This was crazy, apparently two different things happened. Fortunately, nothing major.

 

First, the battery ended up having a dead cell. Replaced it and good as new. I was hearing that with the 2021 polar vortex seems that a lot of people had the car batteries go bad, not sure how wide spread though.

 

Second, the sound was coming from passenger seat. The adjustment switch on the passenger front was stuck, but not enough to actually move the seat but just enough for the motor to be engaged...lol

 

Still need to figure out the burning smell! Still take that in consideration GSpence2 - thank you!

I think you just identified it, those motors are designed to be momentary, not constantly run 😒
