Hi guys, doing my first oil change on my newly acquired 2008 Cayenne Base (V6).

Looking online I'm confused on what oil specs I should be running.  have found so many different bits of information, but here is what I gathered thus far...

2008 Porsche Cayenne V6 3.6L M55.01

Imputing the car information into major oil brand website's they all return 5w30 that is vw or Porsche certified...

Mobile 1 ESP 5w30

Amsoil European 5w30 ESP

Castrol EDGE 5W-30

Liqui Moly TOP TEC 4200 SAE 5W-30 or LONGLIFE III SAE 5W-30

I don't have the user manual, but found one online which I believe is for a 2009 Cayenne it states...

Cayenne S, Cayenne GTS

Porsche recommends

.

Recommended oil viscosity ranges dependent on

ambient temperatures:

Ambient temperature

SAE Viscosity

(seasonal)

For all temperature ranges

Cayenne (V6)

0W - 30

0W - 40

Looking online I see a lot people run 5w40 or 0w40.

I know it can be dependent on climate, but I have never seen such a range of oils recommend for a car. I'm in Seattle so pretty mild climate. Leaning toward the Mobile 1 ESP 5w30.  Curious why major oil manufactures suggest 5w 30 and what every think is truly the best?

The Porsche approved oil list for the V6 Cayenne (9PA and 9PA1) is 15 pages long.

The Mobil 1 ESP is on that list and likely a good choice. If you get snow I would go with the 0W-40.

I have a 2005 Turbo and I live close to Seattle, my mechanic at Gerber changes my oil with Motul 0W-40.

I have the PDF for the oil list somewhere.
