RED Differential oil ?

SO - Porsche advised each diff needed 0.9 Ltr of oil so got myself 2 Ltr of Porsche Diff Oil and took to my local garage to get the oils changed in my 2004 Cayenne V6.

Drained the back one and filled with 1.4 Ltrs of the oil. All good.

BUT WAIT!! That means I only have 0.6 Ltrs left for the front diff! And guess what at least 0.8Ltr drained out the front so I won't have enough Porsche Oil 😞

So the garage said its just 75w90 gear oil and that they had some they'd use on the front. problem is it was RED oil and Porsche was yellow. So we couldn't mix the oils - instead they put in the full 0.9 Ltr of the RED non Porsche oil.

NOW - I'm kinda freaking - IS that RED oil OK to use as it is 75w90 gear oil or should I get it out ASAP and replace??

Redo this, you have no idea what quality the other oil is, while the Porsche product is well known.

YEP I agree so drained that red stuff out. Wasn’t able to get more Porsche so went with Castrol 75w90 Fully Synthetic Long Life Syntrax oil - recommended on various sites as an alternative to Porsche and I can confirm it’s the same colour as Porsche 

 

All done and I can sleep at night now 🙂
