hi there,

I got a problem with my 2011 cayenne turbo which has 87xxx kms.

sometimes it randomly starts. Today, It just wont start at the gas station after  i fulfill the gastank.

it happened couple times before.

I can hear a 'click" sound  while i was doing the ignition. however, the engine didnt start up with any other symptoms.

First I was thinking is it a security problem, so I try lock the car and unlock it. NO HELP.

Then I try to unplug the battery for 20mins. NO HELP.

Finally,,,, I got my friends to help me push the car out of SHELL to the parking lot. What a ODD thing.....

After about 20, 30 minutes, the car started up again. what the ????

I recognized few days ago, the chk engine light is on. I went to my friend to run a diagnosis.

P1284 FUEL PUMP: ELECTRICAL FAULT (UPPER LIMIT VALUE EXCEEDED).

P0687 MAIN RELAY (LOWER LIMIT VALUE EXCEEDED)

P0562 POWER SUPPLY (LOWER LIMIT VALUE EXCEEDED)

P1572 CONTROL UNIT RUN-ON NOT ENDED CORRECTLY(IMPLAUSIBLE SIGNAL)

my friend turned off the chk engine light then see if it still comes out. util now, it still gone.

plz help me, anyone has this same problem or similar problem?

is it a FUEL PUMP problem? or any relay problem?

IT IS BOTHERING ME RIGHT NOW.

thanks anyone viewing this!

If I am reading that correctly one of your fuel pumps is pulling too much current... probably going bad.

What is the voltage of your battery with the car off?

Search on the internet to be sure those codes have accurate info from your scanner.

From the subject title, I thought that your car was randomly starting itself-haha!

I would check the condition of the battery as well. I have the exact same vehicle and have found that the world turns wonky when the battery is in anything other than excellent condition.

I agree.

Also I have been studying the fuel system. I am not 100% sure if there are two fuel pumps however there are two sections of fuel tanks so there is definitely 1 fuel pump and at least a fuel sending unit. The fuel pump has a control unit and you are not supposed to put a 12v tester on the pump you are supposed to control the fuel pump control unit to test the pump.

I suggest you start here...

P0562 System Voltage Low

Possible cause of fault
• Vehicle electrical system control module malfunction
• Contact resistance in wiring
• Battery faulty
• Voltage regulator and alternator faulty

I can confirm only one fuel pump. Definitely check you battery before assuming pump is bad.

thank u, robert, I will test the battery first.

UPDATE:

the battery has been tested as weak.

the battery is renewed. however, the day after, the car had the same problem.

wont started. Only can hear the click sound from the starter, but the car wasnt started.

the funny thing is I release the e-brake, then pushed a little bit backward the car.

and the car was started. I really have no idea about what I had done to make it started....... really stranger for me.

after few days driving, check engine light was on twice, and also battery light was on twice. However, they all gone

the next day.

Driving is good right now. dont seems anything strange. I dont run the scanner yet. but I can tell there should be some codes, because

the time it wont started.

Hey lindog, Had the same issue a while back and was driving me crazy, was diagnosed with weak battery / corrosion on negative cable to be replaced / weak starter.  I was in the same situation as you more than once, it was a nightmare.

Good news it was fixed with a simple DIY for me, it was a lose Positive terminal under the hood driver side. I detached it then cleaned it from debris and reinstalled it. Had no issues since then, and it starts much more faster than it was before.

Wish you all the luck.
