I recently bought a 2005 Boxster, and had to replace the ball sockets on the pushrods ( Top wasnt goind down all the way, the clamshell did not sit flush on the right side, and was making a lot of noise going up or down) Only the right side broke, but I replaced both. Now the clamshell still not flush, and still making a lot of noise, going up or down, on the right transmission; the gear is probably broken. Trying to remove the transmission , , but the 19mm bolt doesnt come out, the boomerang keeps spinning with the bolt. I can hear/fell the gears inside moving . Did I miss any step? Thanks!

Why don’t you pop off the ball joints and remove the transmission complete with the boomerang attached?

then you can play around with it on the bench. 
just take photos beforehand so you’ll know how they were attached.
