Possible fault causes
- Short circuit to B+ in wiring harness
- Short circuit to ground in wiring harness
- Short circuit between the signal and ground lines of the rate of turn sensor
- Open circuit in electric circuit
- PSM(TC/ABS) control unit faulty

The sensors (as I recall) are mounted on the steering column.

The transverse and axial acceleration sensor and the rate-of-turn sensor are integrated into the >combination sensor< housing. If a fault is detected in one of these three sensors, the >combination sensor< must be replaced. The integrated axial acceleration sensor must be calibrated after replacement. 

I am not sure if Durametric can do this calibration. If it does, I would try re-calibration first before replacing any parts.

Thanks!  I had a bad battery, and after I changed it, the steering wheel sensor code popped up as well.  But I was able to fix/calibrate that using Durametric.  But the 4420 remains...
