2006 C4S Cab, US version. Have a couple of PAS/Alarm related codes (8004: Terminal 50, 8005: Terminal S), alarm doesn't set, and doors will not lock with remote (double beep).  The parts guy at my local Porsche dealership mentioned finding a salvage alarm control unit since the new control unit was being priced at $700.  So I ordered one and am about to schedule service but noticed a line in the service/repair instructions "The KESSY/PAS control unit can only be taught once for one vehicle. Switching is not possible."

Will the salvage alarm control unit be able to be programmed by the dealer or am I stuck buying a new one and the parts guy was mistaken?

Thanks

8004: Terminal 50 (Does not clear)
8005: Terminal S (temporarily clears)

No, you can't switch them.  Once the immobiliser code has been programmed into a KESSY/PAS control unit, it can't be over-written with a PIWIS tester.

You might want to try an automotive electronics repairer, to see if they can write the immobiliser code directly to the eeprom.  I have heard of that being done, but have no experience.
