This was found on the driveway.  It is from a  996 and is about 70mm long (hex head) and takes a 3mm allen wrench.  Any ideas?

This may be silly but, what was the condition of the bolt?  Was there oil on it, brake dust, tranny fluid.  If there is a lack of such, maybe part of suspension on front end?

 

edit: last thought (it actually looks like a case bolt from a motorbike to me) ... the color.  Aren't most bolt on the engine a silver tone?  So where are black bolts found?

Condition: no dust, oil or dirt. The head is painted gloss black ~1/4 of the way from the top and is in perfect condition.

kbrandsma...is the car a tip? If so, any work done on the tranny?

joe...the bolt shown now for that application is threaded halfway. OP has one with only first quarter threaded, but...

Reminds me of a neighbor I had as a kid, he was always yelling at us and we kinda hated the guy,,

He would work on a Old Jaguar in his driveway,, when he went in the house we'd toss a bolt or nut under the car..

 

Yep we were kinda evil brats back then.. 😄
