Fan doesn't run after engine turned off on my '99 996Is this normal? If so, how long should the fan run?

 

What are the most common issues as to why the fan doesn't run? It runs if I leave the ignition on.

Which fan, the radiator fans or the engine fan? Mine doesn't run if I turn off the car. Maybe in extreme heat it is programmed to stay on after the engine is shut off.

The fan normally does not turn on unless your engine is very hot and you stop the car when the ambient temp is also hot or you park it in a confined garage on the hot day.

 

The fan should not run when the ignition is on (other than the above conditions).
