Get it scanned with a Porsche specific scan tool, report the codes and we may be able to help you.

The K&N filter oil has probably coated your mass air flow sensor and ruined it.  The MAF sensor works by hot film and is very sensitive.  Honestly, the best air filter and setup for our cars is the stock air box and paper filter.  It was designed like that for a reason.

SHould have asked, in case I need to cean the MAF, what's the correct procedure and what cleaner should I get?   Will check on a scan tool.

Well, this is what I did. Cleaned the MAFS, de-oiled the S&N filter.

Connected my PST2, did have some error codes but did not take note,do remember, an error code regarding hot film, voltage, etc. However,in order to do the modification did disconnect the MAF connector and made the mistake of strating the car. Once I realized that, reconnected the MAF and was getting the "check eng light" . Cleared the error codes, started the car and no CHCK engine light. The PST2 was sluggish. Another thing I noticed, I replaced the cluster, the DME did show the original VIN number, not the donnor's cluster VIN number. Painted the car and was with no battery for aprox 4 weeks, could it be that when the power was restores the DME updated the VIN number in the cluster?

I could be wrong, but I think the VIN is stored in the DME and the mileage is stored in the cluster.  If there is a VIN in the cluster, it probably gets it from the DME.

The K&N will not filter properly without oil, if oiled PROPERLY exactly according to the K&N instructions it won't

likely hurt the MAF, most folks don't follow the instructions and Chaos ensues..

I've run them hundreds of thousands of miles and never found any issues, but I'm really anal about taking care of oiled filters..

I prefer foam to the cloth because the foam stops water when oiled, and most of my vehicles see offroad use...
