Hi,

 I have a 2000 Boxster and I am having issues with the check Engine Light  coming on.  I am pulling the p1128 code and p1130 code. So have been reading forums and I have cleaned the MAF sensor and Throttle body and rest the codes. They come on after driving. Confirmed the Oil caps and gas caps are closed and the codes come back. I have replaced the MAF sensor and Oil filter , reset the codes and they still come on.

 I took it to my Porsche repair guy and after a 10 min ($100) diagnostic , he said the MAF sensor is bad. I told I bought it new at Autozone. He said that it was either faulty or I didn't reset it right (which I think I did). He is charging me $400 for a new MAF sensor.

Does anyone have any advice/ suggestions. I am a little frustrated. Thanks for your help.

Going through similar experiences and I'm learning as I go but seems to be vacuum issue.  I would re-check your work in regards to putting back the TB and piping/sleeves.  I'm close to solving my problem but I found when I took my TB off to clean I did not do a good job of making sure the sleeves on both sides of the TB were seated properly.  Once I straightened that out seems to be OK.

I just had these two codes and it was a vacuum leak. The bellows boot came off underneath the air oil separator. Cost $0 to fix. I hope your mechanic knows what he is doing and not guessing. Did he even open the engine cover?

 

If the CEL came back on after his diagnosis then you need to take it somewhere else.

Did you buy the right MAF? 

 

You don't reset the MAF, you ask the ECU to relearn based on the new parts you installed. A 10 second process, then lots of starts and stops and driving forces the relearn. Then you see if there are any codes that show up or if you need to do more diagnosis. Most codes are not MAF caused, but caused by other things.
