Bosxter 986 shakes after being towed

Hello,

My 2000 Boxster would not start so I  had to have  the car towed. After I got the car running I noticed that the front end shakes a lot, the steering wheel shakes and I hear a rattle coming from the front.  It does not shake while braking, it does shake when I accelerate or when I let go of the throttle. It did not do that prior to being towed. The tow truck driver could not use the tow hook so I don't know if he damaged the suspension by pulling the car up.

 

I need to know where to look, I have lifted the car and I cant find any play at both wheels. everything seems in order and I don't see any of the rubber boots broken.

 

The only other thing I did was to replace the brake pads in the front. I don't think that can be causing this shake since it does not shake while braking, but who knows.

 

I need help in someone pointing me out where to look to see if I can figure this out.

Exactly how did you get the car towed?  On the ground or on a flatbed?

Good.  Now how did they pull it up onto the truck, did you use the tow hook that screws into the opening in the front bumper, or did they attach to something under the car?

They did not use the tow hoof. I don't know where he may have attached the strap to pull the car up.

U don't see anything bent or damaged and I move the tires with the car lifted and do not notice any play

Doesn't matter; if they pulled the car up by one of the tie rods, you probably need a new one as it is probably slightly bent, and a front end alignment.  Tow hooks exists for a reason...……………….

I was not there when the car got picked up, so I couldn't do anything about the tow hook

 

I just wanted to know if there is a way to tell if the tie rods are bent, and it it would be the inner or outer tie rod.

Put the car on an alignment rack, it one is bent, the car will be way out of alignment, and which way it is out will tell you were it is.
