Excellent!

Your Pioneer is a better unit than my JVC, but I'm hoping for good results. You said you had no issues with washout. You have the same unit in another car? A convertible?

The only thing I had found for my last car, a 1996 Mercedes SL500 was a Continental. Great display in direst sun, but the technology was antiquated.

Yes i have it in a jeep wrangler tj, and in a BMW E36 M3. I sometimes remove the roof and doors on the jeep, no issues there. My 996 is a coupe, and the M3 is a coupe also.

Im selling mine soon, after getting the 996 I no longer have any interest in it. The jeep I use for work. Anyway, let us know how your install goes.

Hate to see you let it go. Good ones that haven't had the crap thrashed out of them are hard to find. But, I can understand after having my 996 for just a week.

My daily driver is a Grand Cherokee. Bullet proof I6 engine, great in the snow.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Just getting to it this morning and I only have an hour before I have to go take care of something. Then back to it in a couple of hours.

But, the 70-1787 harness has wires for front speakers only. What about the rears? I'm going to use the 70-1784 that came with my deck and wire up all speakers (although my 996 has front rear and dash) and use the red connector as you suggested.

The yellow one? Yes.

Connected wire for wire from Metra to all speakers on new deck. That will connect to the cars brown plug.

Wire for wire from Metra to the new deck. That will go to the cars black plug.

From new deck to red harness: blue/white to blue/ white. That will go to the cars yellow plug (red/black).

Connected up everything and I have sound.

Haven't heat shrunk the connections yet.

That's as far as I got before I had to leave.

Back now.

How'd I do?

It's done. Everything works and it sounds great. The only issue I'm having is that my phone won't stay paired. Pairs for about 5 seconds and then disconnects.

I'll call Crutchfield tomorrow to see if they can help.

Next up- see why my gas gauge is acting all goofy. The tank was full when In got it. Ran it down to almost empty so I filled it. Only took about 12 gallons.

The gauge stayed near empty for a day. Then today, it slowly crept to near full.

Should I replace the sending unit or is there some other issue that is inherent to these models?

And...

My airbag light is on.

If everything is good with the radio install then it was a success. The fuel gauge and srs light could be for a seperate post.

Hello everyone, Im a newbie and just got a 1999 Carrera 4. It does not have a radio and Im looking to install an aftermarket stereo. I have all the power wires hooked up but im stuck on the speaker wires. Looks like I only have a yellow plug left that has LINE OUT from what I can tell. I suppose there is an amp somewhere but what line powers it?  Can attach the a LINE OUT line to an RCA?
